Read more of this entry »Hudson Valley was awarded the gold medal tonight after a nasty storm, which dumped heavy rain and hail the size of golf balls, on Endicott. Adirondack was the silver medalist.
Hudson Valley led the game 2-0 entering the bottom of the second inning when the game was suspended.
Empire State Games baseball chairman Drew Marino met with the coaches and umpires to discuss options during the delay. He said the first option was to wait out the storm and attempt to continue the game tonight (Saturday) if the field was still playable.
